Relaxation is something that so many of us struggle with, there is always something that needs to be done be it work or running errands, most of us tend to put these first and tell ourselves we ‘don’t have time’ to relax and unwind. But the truth is taking time out for yourself is more important than you realise, it can help you to refresh and fill you with new ideas and inspiration which can prove beneficial to your work.
If you find it difficult to relax and unwind or struggle to switch off, here are three ways that help me.
Now is the time to put down your work, laptop and phone and take some time for yourself to de-stress, the world will still be the same even when your not attached to your phone.
I’ve set myself somewhat of a personal goal recently to spend a lot less time trailing through social media and more time reading. I love to read and always have and it’s a perfect way to take your mind off things. If you struggle sleeping then reading before bed can help immensely.
Of course if you prefer more light reading, then take some time to read your favourite magazine and gain some new inspiration or listen to music to help you relax.
Make sure your surroundings are peaceful, if you’re surrounded by chaos it’s going to make it that much harder to relax. Try dimming the lights and lighting your favourite candle, there is something about candles that make me instantly relax even better if they have a beautiful scent.
Now is the time to use all of your favourite products, you want to feel better about yourself and refreshed. Start by removing any makeup or dirt with your favourite cleanser, take a hot bath or shower to relax your muscles and use your most luxurious body wash. Don’t forget to moisturise, your body will thank you for it later and you’ll smell amazing!
Of course a pamper night isn’t the same without a face mask, I’m a big fan of the Glam Glow Clearing Treatment, you can read my review on it here. I like to use this one or two times a week to really clear out my skin.
Sometimes the thing you need most is to do nothing, cuddle up on the sofa with a hot drink and your favourite blanket. You can spend this time watching a movie or catching up on your favourite tv programmes, it’s a great way to relax as it will take your mind off things and allow you to focus on something entertaining. If your a YouTube fan like me, scroll through your subscriptions and watch some of the latest uploads, I find I can spend hours watching beauty, fashion and lifestyle vlogs.
If you are looking for something new, or even old to watch here are just a few of my favourites:
TV – Power / Gossip Girl / Breaking Bad / One Tree Hill
MOVIES – Bridesmaids / Olympus Has Fallen / Layer Cake / Harry Potter
